It appears I have become quite negligent over the past year in keeping this page up-to-date while the cantina was being built and my mini photo studio was broken down. Time to start playing catch up. Here are a number of additions over the last year…

Corralejo Blanco (Mixto)

What makes this purchase interesting is that the previously $35+ bottles of Espolon were had for $18 each. The store owner said that the distributor requested that all these old bottles be removed from the shelves to make room for the new “Day of the Dead” labeled bottles. It makes sense – same juice, same price. The Corralejo appears to be in the older-styled bottle as well (taller and thinner compared to the current bottle) but I am still researching to verify. Could be a mixto instead of 100% agave OR could be pre-100% agave labelling. Anyone have an answer?

Not sure if that comment is surprise that this brand exists or surprise that I bought it and posted a picture. So to answer the first, yes, it’s a real brand. As for the second, part of the fun of this is finding and trying new and interesting stuff, even the gimmicky brands. I would argue that Republic Tequila has an equally gimmicky bottle, but that juice is very good, IMHO. I have not taken the time to open Alien and try it yet. If it ends up not being a decent sipper, then it will end up in margaritas or palomas.

Republic is impressively delish. i bought it for the bottle as a novelty gift for my old man. He actually asked me the other day, where i’d picked it up because he’d liked it so much! The KAH aren’t bad either! pricey for sure.

i have an oro de lidia extra anejo, is that related to toro de lidia tequila, the bottle is exactly the same exept for the name, I’m wandering if it’s a knockoff or something.

    • tequilabob23 says:

Hi George – I reached out to Toro de Lidia ownership with that question and they responded, stating that they are indeed the same bottle. The Oro de Lidia line was introduced earlier this year in response to a lawsuit filed by a competitor with regards to the names being too close to differentiate. Toro de Lidia is still available in Texas, but outside of Texas it’s branded as Oro de Lidia.

  3. Cesar says:

Hello wondering if you have any record of Dos Luna Tequila? I am buying the few bottles I see around.

    • tequilabob23 says:

Dos Luna or Dos Lunas? Dos Lunas (plural) has been around since 2006 and it appears to have been contracted at 2 different facilities – NOM 1123 and NOM 1124 – although I’ve never seen a bottle from 1123 or read any references about it online. The two entries also appear to have different license holders so take that for what it’s worth. The entry for NOM 1123 (Tequila Cascahuín) was dropped in 2012 and the brand disappeared from the CRT list altogether in January of this year. The couple bottles that I have are from NOM 1124 (Tequilas Del Señor, S.A. DE C.V.). Hope that helps!

  4. George says:

Bob, what can you tell me about tequila Nacional silver, is it good, rare, price neighborhood

    • tequilabob23 says:

Unfortunately, I know very little about the Nacional brand other than that it’s not appeared on the registered tequila brands list in at least 7 years. Hopefully another reader can jump in that has some knowledge about it.
